All City of Brownsville Metro fixed route vehicles meet applicable American’s with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements and are accessible for persons who use mobility aids. In accord with ADA, the City of Brownsville also operates an ADA Paratransit Service for people with disabilities who are not able to ride fixed route public transportation.

ADA Paratransit Service is pre-arranged origin-to-destination service for persons with disabilities whose eligibility has been determined by a certification process. Passengers must call the day before their trip to schedule the trip. Paratransit is a shared-ride program, meaning that multiple passengers may be grouped together in the same vehicle for trips with different pick up and drop off locations.
The ADA Paratransit Service is offered during the same working hours as the fixed route service and is provided in areas that are within 3/4 of a mile from BUS’s regular fixed routes. ADA The trip fare is $1.50 per trip.
To be eligible to use the ADA Paratransit Service, individuals must apply for a determination of eligibility. Individuals must meet at least one of the following three eligibility criteria, whether permanently or for a limited period of time:
